Kangana vs officials in Mandi: The story behind the public fallout

Kangana Ranaut, the popular actress and BJP MP, erupted in anger during a district development meeting in Mandi. She accused officials of being "lazy", "inefficient", and "fuhad" over the slow progress of development works sanctioned with Rs 11 crore. Ranaut demanded that officials responsible for the delays stand up and claimed that half of the sanctioned amount had not been utilized.

The BJP MLAs Inder Singh Gandhi and Dalip Thakur, who were present, pointed out that Kangana's anger stemmed from officials repeating their excuses from previous meetings. They also noted that the MPLADS fund allocation had been reduced from Rs 2.20 crore to Rs 1.10 crore annually. While the association of 14 Block Development Officers criticized Kangana's language, the BJP's response was measured, emphasizing that other BJP MPs were also addressing development issues.
