One laid-off software developer admitted, "I have to make up something about what excites me about AI because, frankly, nothing really excites me about AI."

To prepare for interviews, job seekers are encouraged to explore the practical applications of AI in their own lives, even if they don't have extensive experience. A career coach and former corporate recruiter suggested using AI to solve a problem in one's life and turning that experience into a case study for the interview.

It's essential to be honest about one's level of AI expertise, as exaggerating or lying about it can be detrimental during the hiring process. Job seekers should also inquire about how AI is being used within the company and address any concerns regarding data privacy and potential job changes.
