I’ve never wanted a phone as much as the iPhone Duo, but at $2,000, I just can't go there — and I'm left wondering who's going to buy Apple's remarkable-looking foldable

Apple unveiled its first foldable phone, the iPhone Duo, at their September event. Despite the excitement surrounding the device, I found myself hesitant to purchase it at its $1,999 price point. The iPhone Duo is clearly aimed at early adopters, as it lacks many features found in more affordable models, such as three cameras, Action button, and Face ID.

Instead, it offers a unique user experience and clever software adaptations. However, at $1,999, the iPhone Duo is the most expensive iPhone ever, which makes the purchase decision even more challenging. I, an Apple fan since the iPhone 3GS era, cannot justify spending that much for a phone with missing features. While it might be tempting for tech enthusiasts to try the iPhone Duo, it is unlikely to sell as well as the regular iPhone models.

Apple has managed to keep costs down by addressing the global RAM crisis, but the company will need to ensure the iPhone Duo replicates the success of the original iPhone rather than the underwhelming Vision Pro.
