I shot 1,000 photos with the OM System PEN in Berlin –the perfect playground for this portable powerhouse

Visiting a foreign city for the first time is always exciting, especially when it involves using a brand new camera you've never seen before. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the launch event for the new OM System PEN in Berlin. I was fortunate to have extra legroom on my flight, allowing me ample time to settle in before exploring the city's streets.

I packed my camera with several lenses, including the M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro, the M.Zuiko 40-150mm f/4.0-5.6 R, and the 9mm f/8 Fisheye Body Cap. The PEN's compact size and weather-sealed build made it an ideal choice for my Berlin adventure. I found it familiar and comfortable, despite never having seen it before. The PEN looks and feels like a blend between the Olympus PEN-F and PEN E-P7, offering a mix of features from both.

It performs similarly to the OM System OM-5 Mark II, despite being an entry-level camera at $999. The PEN boasts flagship features such as High Res Shot, a computational photography tool that allows the 20.4MP sensor to produce images up to 80MP, using its 5-axis in-body image stabilization system. Despite its price, the PEN delivers impressive performance and versatility, making it a perfect choice for photographers on the go.
