CM accepted our demands, and an agreement has been undertaken: Haryana Nagarpalika Karamchari Sangh

Sanitation workers in Haryana have ended their 37-day protest and agreed to the state government's terms, ending a significant disruption to urban areas. The agreement was reached during a meeting in Chandigarh between the Nagarpalika Karamchari Sangh leaders and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The government has agreed to several of the workers' demands, which included regularizing municipal employees, providing in-principle approval for various benefits, and extending the risk allowance to contract workers.

The workers' leader, Naresh Shastri, expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister, stating that their genuine demands were accepted and a written agreement was made. The agreement covers various aspects, such as regularizing municipal employees' posts, recognizing contract workers' experience in the recruitment process, and providing a risk allowance of Rs 2,000 per month to municipal workers.

Additionally, the department has approved extending the medical cashless policy to regular employees, pensioners, and their dependents. The workers will also be eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana–CHIRAYU, with the respective urban local bodies paying an annual premium of Rs 9,203 per employee. The agreement also includes provisions for providing medical leave, increasing sewermen's monthly wages, and revoking suspensions of regular employees during the strike.
