Klatt praised the Bruins' offensive line and rushing attack, calling Nico Iamaleava a "really talented player" and crediting coach Bob Chesney for leading the team. UCLA's improved defense, under the guidance of Colin Hitschler, was also noted.

While acknowledging that UCLA faced a tough challenge in their Week 1 game against Cal, Klatt expressed satisfaction with their performance, particularly in the final quarter, when they secured a 45-24 victory. He emphasized that UCLA was facing a "very good team" and suggested that the Bruins could be contenders in the upcoming season.

The Bruins are set to face San Diego State on Saturday, followed by a Big Ten Conference matchup against Purdue.
