Centre targets Nigeria’s productivity gap with new professional certification

The Centre for Public Service Productivity and Development (CeProd) has unveiled plans to certify a new breed of productivity professionals in Nigeria, aiming to enhance workplace performance and create a more competitive labor force. The program is designed to arm participants with hands-on expertise in productivity management, organizational performance, digital transformation, performance measurement, and business growth.

CeProd's Director General, Dr. Chris Egbu, revealed the initiative came at a time when productivity in African economies, particularly in the public sector, has been on a decline, adversely affecting economic growth and quality of life. He emphasized that rectifying Nigeria's productivity challenge necessitates professionals not only proficient in identifying inefficiencies, measuring performance, and improving processes but also adept at managing organizational change.

The Certified Productivity Professional (CPP) program encompasses a wide array of subjects, including staff productivity, employee performance, key performance indicators (KPIs), target-setting, technology-driven working, knowledge management, digital marketing, cash-flow management, time management, process improvement, supplier relations, succession planning, and professional ethics.

Dr. Egbu highlighted that the course would fill the chasm between academic credentials and the practical skills requisite for elevating organizational efficiency and performance. The Centre further noted that graduates would learn to convert workplace activities into quantifiable outcomes by optimizing processes, managing resources, and leveraging technology effectively.
