Bamanga Tukur gave his all to Nigeria, says Makinde

President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chair, Bamanga Muhammad Tukur, who died at the age of 90. In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu referred to Tukur's death as the conclusion of a significant period in Nigeria's political and economic history.

The President highlighted Tukur's extensive career, which encompassed public administration, governance, industry, politics, and pan-African business leadership. Tinubu recalled Tukur's political journey during the Second Republic, which culminated in his election as Governor of the old Gongola State (present-day Adamawa and Taraba States) in 1983.

Tinubu also praised Tukur's influential role on the international front, noting that the deceased was a fervent supporter of African economic resurgence. He emphasized Tukur's advocacy for intra-African trade, private sector-driven growth, and sustainable development.

According to the DAILY POST, Tukur served as the National Chairman of the PDP from March 2012 to January 2014. The President described Tukur as a refined, kind-hearted individual whose life was deeply grounded in the principles of integrity and service that the Adamawa Emirate and the nation value highly. He lauded Tukur as a visionary with innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit, believing in Nigeria's immense potential.

Tinubu mourned the loss of Tukur's wise counsel and paternal guidance, expressing condolences to the deceased's family, the Fombina Emirate of Adamawa, the government and people of Adamawa State, as well as the broader political and business communities in Nigeria and across Africa.
