Afoko: Women’s inclusion key to NPP’s electoral comeback

New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate Awentami Paul Afoko is advocating for increased female representation within the party's leadership and decision-making processes. In his bid for the position of National Chairman, Afoko highlighted the vital roles women play in various aspects of society, including as organizers, communicators, business leaders, professionals, farmers, traders, caregivers, and strategists.

He emphasized that women constitute the "backbone" of homes, communities, and party structures, and their inclusion must be integral to the NPP's efforts to revitalize and reposition itself. Afoko stated unequivocally that serious transformation of the NPP is impossible without women at its core. He further stated that educating a woman is akin to educating an entire nation.

Should he secure the National Chairman role, Afoko pledged to prioritize women's involvement in the party's administration, policy formulation, fundraising, communication, mobilization, and leadership development. His rationale is clear: the NPP's return to power hinges on women's engagement. Ghana's prosperity likewise depends on women's active participation.

Afoko argued that empowering women in decision-making would help the NPP restore trust, enhance its ties with communities nationwide, and align its policies with the experiences and contributions of Ghana's diverse economic and social sectors. His remarks come as the NPP prepares for leadership renewal and strategic reassessment following its electoral loss in the 2024 general elections.
