13-Km Power Corridor Built To Energise Indore Metro

Indore, Madhya Pradesh: A 13-kilometer Extra High Voltage (EHV) transmission corridor has been built from Jaitpura to MR-10 to supply power for Indore Metro, a significant development in the city's ambitious mass rapid transit project. Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) developed the 132 kV double-circuit composite transmission line, which will power the proposed Metro Receiving Substation at MR-10.

The line was constructed through urban areas, necessitating the use of narrow-base towers, monopole towers, and underground cable technology to overcome space constraints. Additionally, an 160 MVA transformer was installed at the 220 kV Jaitpura substation to enhance power supply arrangements for the Metro's growing electricity needs.

Power for Indore Metro's Phase-I network is provided through MP Transco's 220/132 kV EHV grid stations at Depalpur, Jaitpura, and Manglia. Each Metro substation is anticipated to have a power demand of around 40 MVA, and MP Transco has augmented the capacity of the respective EHV grid stations to meet this demand. The transmission infrastructure's development has been a collaborative effort between MP Transco and Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MPMRCL), ensuring reliable and quality power supply for Indore Metro's future operations.
