10-man Kuching still prove too strong for Melaka

Kuching City demonstrated their prowess in the Super League on Saturday, securing a 2-1 victory over Melaka at the Hang Jebat Stadium. Goals came from Jerome Etame in the 23rd minute and Ronald Ngah Wanjah in the 90th+6 minute, while Melaka managed to equalize through Kim Dong Hyun in the 90th+2 minute. The visitors were reduced to ten players in the 56th minute when Yuki Tanigawa received a second yellow card for grappling Kpah Sherman, the final defender.

Kuching City's next match is against Phnom Penh Crown in the AFC Champions League Two opener on September 17, whereas Melaka will resume their Super League campaign against KL City on October 17.

Penang marked their return to home soil with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kelantan Red Warrior (KRW) at the City Stadium. Goals were scored by Jarvey Gayoso in the fourth minute, Celestine Enzo in the 52nd minute, and Stefano Brundo in the 96th minute for Penang, with Mazwan Che Mat scoring for KRW in the 45th+2 minute and Emmanuel Mbarga in the 62nd minute.

This result leaves KRW still without a win after five matches, while Penang's victory marks their first home triumph in the Super League season. However, KRW nearly left the field with ten men when Fazly Mazlan received a straight red card for fouling Musa Philip, but the decision was overturned to a yellow card following a VAR review in the 95th minute.

Star City FC faced a goalless draw against Terengganu FC at the Tuanku Syed Putra Stadium in Kangar. Douglas Oliviera equalized the score for the hosts in the 55th minute, while Romel Morales pulled one back for the Turtles in the 77th minute. This result leaves Terengganu in sixth place in the league standings, while Star City remains second from the bottom without a win thus far.
