‘Wretched and vile propaganda’ — Atta Akyea denies abandoning Adu-Boahene

Samuel Atta Akyea, the lawyer representing former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has dismissed recent reports that he has withdrawn from the ongoing case, calling them "wretched and vile propaganda." In a statement dated September 10, 2026, Akyea clarified that the reports were connected to a dispute over a document the prosecution alleged was fabricated.

He affirmed that the document was admitted into evidence without objection before Justice Francis Apangabuno Achibanga, who was presiding as an additional High Court judge. Akyea emphasized that he could not abandon or renounce his client, revealing that his legal team was preparing a "very solid and credible submission of no case."

He further stated that the defense team remained committed to challenging the prosecution's allegations through the appropriate legal avenues. Akyea also criticized the media's treatment of the case, asserting that questions of evidence and law should be resolved in court, rather than through a media trial. He expressed confidence in the defense's arguments and described the allegations against his clients as "sordid."
