Woman assaulted, murdered as three children tied to tree in Kilifi

Police in Kilifi County have launched an investigation after a 36-year-old woman named Neema Charo Nchengo was allegedly assaulted and murdered at the Mbuuni area of Sosoni Ndogo Centre in Magarini Sub-County. According to prosecutors, Nchengo was allegedly lured from a makeshift structure with her three children - aged 17, seven and five - before the children were tied to a tree.

The children were found tied together to the tree by police, while their mother was taken about five meters away and allegedly sexually assaulted before being killed. Nchengo's body was found naked in bushes with stab wounds above her umbilical area, on her left side of the chin and the right side of her head, along with several head injuries believed to have been inflicted with a blunt object.

Police have processed the scene and the body was taken to Malindi Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation prior to a post-mortem examination. The motive behind the murder is yet to be determined.
