Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, Helen Mirren insist there's nothing to see here in MobLand

On the set of the organized crime series MobLand, there has been a rumor that lead actor Tom Hardy would be leaving the Paramount+ show after its second season due to disagreements with executive producer Jez Butterworth, with tardiness on set being the main issue. However, the cast of MobLand, including Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan, have confirmed that Hardy will return as the series' Harrigan mob family fixer Harry Da Souza for the third season.

Helen Mirren, who plays Maeve, the Harrigan matriarch, stated, "We're professionals, we get on with it." She expressed that "we love each other, we support each other. We love the show. We want the show to be its very best." Pierce Brosnan, whose character Conrad battles for control of the London underworld alongside his wife, was equally effusive in his praise for Hardy, saying, "I love the man.

I mean, honest to God, I really, I’ve watched this fella work forever, and it’s just so captivating, spellbinding, sharp as a knife, lethal. It was a bit of a storm in a teacup."

Tom Hardy himself, in an interview with the Associated Press, denied any firing or walking away and also denied any arguments, stating, "There was no firing, there was no walking away and there was no arguments in that aspect. I just kept my head down and waited, carried on talking to the grown-ups, which is what we just do. So I don’t really have anything to say about that."

While this does not directly refute the reports of friction on the set of MobLand, it does clear up any doubt that the Harrigan clan will have to proceed without Hardy's De Souza character. The second season of MobLand returns on September 18 on Paramount+.
