'That's why we fight': Trump links 9/11 to Iran conflict

President Donald Trump asserted on Friday that the United States would never forget the September 11, 2001 attacks, and indicated the nation was still engaged in the war on terror 25 years later by opposing Iran. Addressing the Pentagon following his absence from the main 9/11 commemorations in New York, the Republican president also criticized domestic extremists, seemingly targeting Democrats.

"Today we renew the sacred oath that we first swore in their names a quarter of a century ago. We will never, ever forget. That's why we fight today," Trump proclaimed in his address. "We don't have a choice. There can only be victory. We fight hard. We fight to win," added the president, who was accompanied by his First Lady Melania Trump.

One of the aircraft hijacked during the 9/11 attacks struck the Pentagon in Washington, claiming the lives of 184 individuals who were honored through a single bell toll as their names were recited. However, presidents have usually observed significant anniversaries by visiting multiple locations, including New York, where the majority of the 2,977 victims perished in the assaults on the World Trade Center. Trump proceeded to connect the fight against Iran to the ongoing struggle against terrorism.
