Tánaiste Simon Harris anticipates that US President Donald Trump's two-day visit to Ireland will serve as a moment to acknowledge and ponder the strong ties between the two nations. Though the trip is not officially designated for the president, he will commence his journey in Dublin's Phoenix Park for several political engagements.

Both President Micheál Martin and President Catherine Connolly will be present for significant meetings, safeguarded by high-level security and accompanied by military personnel. The US Ambassador's Residence will welcome hundreds of invited guests, including the president himself, who is set to deliver a speech. Following his address, Trump will journey to Co Clare via Shannon Airport, with a planned stop at the Irish Open tournament at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg.

He is anticipated to hand over the winning trophy to the event's champion, with the ceremony scheduled for the following evening. The visit has been classified as extraordinary, prompting the Irish authorities to cancel Garda leave and deploy forces from outside the Clare division to manage the security for Trump's one-night stay in the country.

Expectations are high for protests in Doonbeg and at Shannon Airport, with demonstrations planned to coincide with the president's arrival. Dublin and Clare will experience traffic restrictions and disruptions during Trump's visit.
