Suspicious death under investigation in Hamilton: police

Hamilton police are probing the suspicious death of a 54-year-old man who was found unresponsive on the sidewalk near Dundas Street East and 1st Street in the Waterdown neighbourhood on September 7. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased, according to police. Initially, the death was not considered suspicious.

However, following further investigation, including reviewing video footage, speaking with witnesses and obtaining information from a post-mortem examination, authorities have deemed the circumstances surrounding the man's death concerning. The death is now being treated as suspicious, and the Hamilton Police Homicide Unit is leading the investigation.

Police have released a media statement, informing the public that the death has not been classified as a homicide at this time. Detectives are urging residents, businesses, and motorists in the vicinity to review security, doorbell, and dash camera footage from the evening of September 7.
