Spartan Logistics expands warehouse footprint through acquisition

Third-party logistics company Spartan Logistics recently announced the acquisition of Allen Logistics, expanding its warehouse footprint by 100,000 square feet. This acquisition gives Spartan Logistics 7 locations in Northwest Ohio and a total of 11 in the state of Ohio. The company's warehousing and transportation network now spans 4.5 million square feet across nine states in the Midwest and the South, with a strong presence at South Carolina ports in Charleston and Savannah.

Spartan Logistics CEO Steve Harmon stated that Toledo has been a key market for the company for many years, and the acquisition represents an investment in the future of Spartan Logistics in the region. The Columbus-based company operates a fleet of approximately 50 tractors, providing local shuttle and regional freight transportation services such as just-in-time delivery. Spartan Logistics also offers cross-docking, fulfillment and warehouse management services, as well as real estate construction and brokerage services.

The acquisition of Allen Logistics is expected to strengthen Spartan Logistics' regional service density across its 11 Ohio locations and enhance the company's ability to provide streamlined freight transportation, delivery and fulfillment services through the integration of warehousing with its truck fleet.
