Sowore celebrates son on 17th birthday in US

African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore celebrated his son Olukomi's 17th birthday in the United States recently. Sowore, who had been absent from his family for 20 months, returned to New Jersey after disclosing that he had faced repeated actions by President Bola Tinubu's administration against him. The activist praised his son's strong, courageous, independent-minded spirit in a post on X, stating that watching his son grow has been an incredible joy.

Sowore had previously accused the Nigerian government of deploying various institutions against him, including the police and Department of State Services, targeting his passport, and restricting his movement through detention and bail conditions. He expressed gratitude for his lawyers and supporters' support during his absence.

Sowore plans to visit several cities across the US and Canada to engage with Nigerians and supporters of his political movement before returning to Nigeria for the 2027 presidential campaign.
