Remi Tinubu launches food bank, empowers 5,000 in Anambra

On Thursday, Nigeria's First Lady Oluremi Tinubu launched the National Community Food Bank Programme for the South-East geopolitical zone and inaugurated the ICT Experience Centre at the Federal Polytechnic in Oko, Anambra State. She also announced a statewide empowerment initiative in Anambra State, benefiting 5,000 individuals in all 21 local government areas through business grants, vocational tools and equipment for agriculture and agro-processing, beauty care, and small-scale enterprises.

The First Lady, accompanied by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, his wife Nonye Soludo, and other dignitaries, described the ICT centre as a significant investment in Nigeria's digital future and emphasized the food bank as a milestone in the Federal Government's nationwide food security and social welfare drive. The South-East zonal food bank initiative targets vulnerable groups, including widows, the elderly, persons with disabilities, nursing mothers, and young children, providing essential food assistance and nutrition education.

This initiative is a core component of the Renewed Hope Initiative, aiming to reduce hunger and improve human capital indices across Nigerian communities. The First Lady concluded her nationwide tour in Anambra State, where she presented each beneficiary with a cash grant of N100,000. Governor Soludo praised President Bola Tinubu's macroeconomic and infrastructural reforms, expressing confidence in the nation's recovery under the current administration.

The traditional chieftaincy title of 'Ugo Eze Anambra State' was conferred upon the First Lady by the royal fathers of Anambra State, recognizing her compassionate works and positive impact on the country.
