PRP defends Bauchi senator, dismisses banditry allegations

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has come to the defense of its Bauchi State governorship candidate, Senator Shehu Buba, after he was accused of involvement in banditry and kidnapping. According to PRP National Publicity Secretary, Muhammed Ishaq, the allegations are a deliberate campaign to damage Buba's reputation ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The PRP challenged those behind the allegations to present evidence of criminal activity against Buba, urging them to take their claims to the appropriate authorities. Ishaq emphasized that the party has full confidence in Buba, describing him as a serving senator who has stepped up to help combat criminality in the country. The PRP cited Section 127(c) of the Electoral Act 2026, which states that publishing false statements about a candidate's character or conduct, with the intent to prejudice their chances of election, is an offense punishable by a fine or imprisonment.
