President Mahama commends contractor for progress on Nadowli-Kaleo 24-hour market

President John Mahama has lauded the contractor responsible for the progress on the Nadowli-Kaleo 24-Hour Market project, praising the work as promising. During his visit as part of the initial day of his two-day Resetting Ghana Tour in the Upper West Region, the President expressed his satisfaction with the contractor's efforts.

He emphasized that the government is constructing 24-Hour Markets across all 261 constituencies to provide reliable trading spaces and stimulate economic activity within local communities. President Mahama highlighted that contractors were expected to utilize their own resources to initiate work, rather than relying on mobilisation payments.

He stated that contractors would be paid once they reached 15 percent completion, enabling them to maintain the pace until the projects' completion. With the necessary funds already in place, he expressed skepticism towards any contractor failing to advance the work to that level. The markets are expected to serve as dependable outlets for farmers selling their produce, providing traders with opportunities to earn decent incomes.

President Mahama urged other contractors working on similar projects to emulate the progress witnessed at Nadowli. He assured the chiefs and people of Nadowli-Kaleo that the nearby bridge concerns would be addressed promptly, directing the Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways to have the technical team inspect the bridge immediately.

The steel components required for the bridge's reopening were already available, and he instructed their mobilization and installation. President Mahama pledged to return to the constituency with the chiefs and stakeholders to officially commission the completed market. The Nadowli-Kaleo project is part of the government's nationwide 24-Hour Market initiative, aimed at enhancing local trading infrastructure and supporting economic activity in communities.
