Mahama commends Nadowli 24-Hour Market contractor

President John Mahama recently visited the 24-hour market project under construction in Nadowli, Upper West Region. Inspecting the progress, the President praised the contractor for making good headway and commended their ability to commence work.

The government aims to build 24-hour markets in all 261 constituencies, with contractors expected to have the financial capacity to start work using their own resources. Mahama emphasized that contractors shouldn't rely on mobilisation funds, citing past misuse of these funds for personal gain instead of project completion. He explained that payment will be made once a contractor reaches 15% completion, allowing the project to continue until finish.

The President expressed satisfaction with the Nadowli project's progress, stating that it was on track and being carried out well. He encouraged the contractor to maintain this good work. The 261 markets will provide farmers with reliable outlets for their produce, supporting economic development in communities. Farmers of pepper, onions, maize and other crops will have spaces to display their goods and earn decent incomes.

Mahama urged other contractors working on similar projects to emulate the progress at Nadowli. Once complete, he pledged to return to commission the facility with local chiefs and residents.
