PM Modi Meets Iran President Pezeshkian, Calls For Peace & Safe Navigation Amid West Asia Conflict

New Delhi, September 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit, emphasizing the need for lasting peace and stability in West Asia, protecting freedom of navigation and commerce, and ensuring the safety of seafarers, amid heightened uncertainty in the region due to the ongoing conflict.

At the meeting, the two leaders discussed their bilateral relationship and recent developments in West Asia. Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to resolving all issues through dialogue and diplomacy. They also highlighted the potential for BRICS to foster resilience, innovation, cooperation, and sustainability among countries in the Global South.

Iranian President Pezeshkian called for stronger economic cooperation among BRICS countries, emphasizing the transition from potential cooperation to operational one.
