Pledge on more Parliament seats must be followed by action, says Sarawak minister

Sarawak Minister Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has called for concrete action to be taken following Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's agreement to increase the number of parliamentary seats for Sabah and Sarawak. The current parliamentary representation does not reflect the original agreement made during Malaysia's formation in 1963, where the Borneo states were supposed to receive roughly one-third of the seats in Parliament.

Karim, who also serves as the PBB information chief, emphasized that Anwar's statement must be followed by tangible changes to address the long-standing imbalance in parliamentary representation between Malaysia and the Borneo states.
