Peter Obi Benue incident: Prosecute culprits publicly – NDC tells police

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the Nigeria Police Force to take decisive action in response to the assault on their presidential candidate in Benue State. The party's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, made this demand during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, commending the arrest of 46 suspects involved in the incident.

However, he cautioned against the habit of burying such matters without addressing the full extent of accountability. Director emphasized the necessity for those who were apprehended to face prosecution in a transparent manner, stating that the police should have intervened earlier to prevent the gathering of miscreants and hoodlums at the location.

He expressed disappointment that the police only took action after the event took place, urging the Inspector-General of Police to ensure that the process does not end with mere arrests without revealing the fate of those who were detained.
