Penang police reclassify Nibong Tebal septic tank case as murder

Nibong Tebal police have reclassified a case involving the discovery of a man’s body in a septic tank as a murder investigation. The victim, believed to be in his 50s, was found with his hands and feet bound inside the septic tank at a house in Taman Seri Bistari, Seberang Perai Selatan, on Wednesday. The post-mortem examination confirmed the victim’s identity and revealed the cause of death.

Deputy Police Chief DSP Mohd Norazmi Abd Ghapar stated that the case was initially classified under Section 365 of the Penal Code but has now been moved to Section 302 for murder. Police are conducting a comprehensive investigation to determine the motive and identify any suspects involved. They urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information to avoid confusion and to assist with the ongoing investigation by coming forward with information or contacting ASP Jegathiswaran Chanthirasegaran at 04-5858222 or any nearby police station.

The body had been inside the septic tank for at least two days before it was discovered and removed with the help of the Fire and Rescue Department.
