Oburu confirms UK medical trip

ODM leader Oburu Oginga recently traveled to the United Kingdom for a routine medical examination, aiming to take a period of rest and ensuring his party's structures remain robust during his absence. In a statement on Thursday, he explained that the visit was advised by his doctors and party leadership, stating, "Taking this step back is a strategic moment for our movement."

With his advancing age, Oburu viewed the absence as an opportunity for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to demonstrate its institutional resilience following the recent passing of his brother and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. The party's effective functioning without his direct involvement affirmed its strong, resilient structures, capable of handling day-to-day operations seamlessly.

Deputy Party Leaders Paul Simba Arati and Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, along with the National Central Committee and secretariat, would manage the day-to-day activities. Oburu expressed confidence in his deputies and the national organs, vowing his faith in their collective leadership, discipline, and vision to steer the movement effectively.
