NSA to begin GH¢41 refunds for eligible national service personnel by Tuesday

The National Service Authority (NSA) plans to start returning the GH¢41 registration fee to eligible national service members by Monday or Tuesday. However, only those who paid the fee when attempting to register or successfully registered under the old system will receive the refund. The fee refund is due to the closure of the old registration system due to integrity concerns, including suspected ghost names.

The government directed the NSA to create a new system, leaving the Authority with just three weeks to set up the replacement registration platform. The Authority is nearly finished auditing the old records to ensure only those who paid the fee get their money back. The official also debunked claims that the NSA enrolled personnel in insurance schemes without consent, stating that insurance companies directly engaged registration center attendees and provided enrollment forms.

The GH¢50 charge at validation centers was explained as covering administrative costs like canopies, chairs, and water. The GH¢60 deduction linked to the Zeus Atlas capacity-building program was clarified as being managed by the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) rather than the NSA, with an investigation underway. The official denied claims of unpaid allowances, stating that the July allowance was paid in August, leaving personnel one month in arrears as of September.

They also need to process September allowances, transport, and travel-related claims before personnel complete their service.
