Nigerian Firm Signs Implementation of $60m Coffee Partnership with Liberia

Olawale Ajimotokan and the Liberia Ministry of Agriculture have signed off on a $60 million coffee partnership to boost development throughout Liberia's coffee industry. This 20-year agreement, signed in Monrovia on June 8, 2026, will see the development of commercial coffee nurseries in five counties, registration and support for over 200,000 farmers, training for extension workers and farmers, and the establishment of coffee washing stations.

Additionally, the partnership aims to enhance market infrastructure to bring Liberian coffee onto the global stage.

The partnership aligns with Liberia's focus on coffee as the priority crop under the Food and Agriculture Organisation's "One Country, One Priority Crop" project. With the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Neutah Alexander at the helm, Liberia is currently undergoing a comprehensive revamp of its coffee value chain. The founder and CEO of JR Farms Group, Mr. Olawale Rotimi Opeyemi, expressed his satisfaction with the project's progress since the June 2026 signing.

He anticipates the project will create nearly half a million jobs, contribute to Liberia's GDP and income, and position the country as a global coffee exporter. The Liberia Ministry of Agriculture, led by Dr. Neutah Alexander, has been proactive and dedicated in supporting the project. They credit the Honorable Minister and President George Manneh Weah for their visionary leadership and commitment to agricultural development in Liberia.
