Newborn’s body found in Dungun hostel locker

In Dungun, a 19-year-old student is accused of hiding her newborn baby's body in a hostel locker following her delivery at the institution's toilet. Police were alerted to the grim discovery at 10.48pm on the previous day. The infant, believed to have been born at eight months' gestation, had reportedly died shortly after birth.

The student is said to have wrapped the baby in cloth, placed it in a bag, and concealed it within a hostel locker. The mosque's management informed the institution that the student had sought assistance for the baby's burial, leading to the police intervention. Upon arrival, officers gathered witness statements and examined the scene with the help of the forensic unit.

The infant's body was subsequently delivered to Dungun Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is currently underway under Section 318 of the Penal Code, which pertains to the concealment of birth.
