Motorcycle bomb blasts police pickup in Pattani, suspect still at large

Last night, September 10, a motorcycle bomb exploded near a police pickup in Pattani, causing damage to the vehicle but leaving the officers inside unharmed. The incident occurred on the Narathiwat-Pattani road in Langa subdistrict, close to a police post. Police in Mayo district were initially alerted to the blast around 7:43pm.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered remnants of a motorcycle and bomb fragments scattered across the road. The area was subsequently cordoned off while investigators collected evidence. Due to the explosion happening after dark, bomb disposal and forensic teams were scheduled to conduct a more thorough examination in the morning, as safety was a concern for officers who had been working overnight.

Reports suggested that someone had ridden a Honda motorcycle to the roadside, left it there, and then fled into the nearby forest before the bomb detonated as a black pickup carrying a police patrol team passed by. Shrapnel struck the vehicle, but none of the officers inside sustained injuries or losses. Following the explosion, police deployed additional personnel to surround and search the area, believing the perpetrator might still be hiding near the scene.

As of now, investigators are continuing to gather evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the motorcycle bomb and identify those responsible.
