Mahdzir jumpa Sanusi selepas PAU bincang kemungkinan kerjasama 2 parti

Mahdzir Khalid revealed that the Umno Kedah will convene a meeting with Kedah's Chief Minister, Sanusi Nor, following the PAU 2026. The meeting aims to discuss the possibility of cooperation between Umno and PAS. Mahdzir stated that the meeting will only be held after the PAU concludes, since PAS recently concluded its muktamar in Kota Bharu a week ago.

"Let's finish this first," said Mahdzir when met at the PAU 2026 today. Earlier, Mahdzir had mentioned that a meeting with PAS leaders will be held soon to discuss the form of cooperation between the two parties in the run-up to PRU16. According to him, the initial meeting would be the first step before any further discussions on other matters.

Regarding the PAU 2026, Mahdzir expressed his views based on the foundational speech delivered by Umno's President, Zahid Hamidi, which provided a clear direction for the party's future, including exploring cooperation with Malay parties. He added that as a leader and party member, he would follow Zahid's guidance in determining the next steps.

"I think the president's speech clearly gave a clear direction," said Mahdzir. "As a party member, I have my own view, but we follow the path mapped out by the party president." Previously, Zahid said that a major collaboration needs to continue to create political consensus to avoid detrimental consequences. In his speech, he said this was not about merging political parties, but rather building a meeting point between parties without forcing anyone to sacrifice their identity.
