Mahdzir jumpa Sanusi selepas PAU bincang kemungkinan kerjasama 2 parti

Mahdzir Khalid stated that the Umno Kedah will hold a meeting with Kedah's Chief Minister Sanusi Jamalluddin after the Umno General Assembly (PAU) 2026 concludes. PETALING JAYA: Umno Kedah will convene a meeting with Kedah's Chief Minister Sanusi Jamalluddin following the Umno General Assembly (PAU) 2026 to discuss the possibility of cooperation between their parties and PAS.

Their leader, Mahdzir Khalid, said the meeting would only take place after PAU as PAS recently held a muktamar the previous week in Kota Bharu and this week in Kuala Lumpur for PAU. "Let's finish first. Last week PAS held a Muktamar in Kota Bharu, the party leadership was in Kelantan, and this week for PAU in Kuala Lumpur." Mahdzir said, while meeting today at the Umno General Assembly (PAU) 2026.

Mahdzir had previously said that a meeting with PAS leadership in the near future will be held to discuss the form of cooperation between the two parties leading up to PRU16. According to him, the initial meeting will be the first step before any further discussions on other matters. Regarding PAU 2026, Mahdzir said that the clear direction given by Umno President Zahid Hamidi's speech about the future of the party, including exploring cooperation with Malay parties.

He said as a leader and member of the party, he will take Zahid's view as a guide in determining the next steps. "I think the president's speech today clearly states that the president has clearly given a clear direction. As a party member, I have my own view, but we follow the steps prescribed by the party's president," he said.

Earlier, Zahid said that a grand collaboration is needed to build political understanding to avoid harmful consequences. In his speech, he said that this is not aimed at merging political parties, but rather building a meeting point between parties without forcing anyone to sacrifice their identity.
