Mahama assures Wa-Han road will be completed by end of 2027

President John Dramani Mahama has pledged that the Wa-Han road connecting the Upper West and Upper East regions will be finished by the end of 2027. The assurance was given during a tour of the project under the government's Big Push infrastructure program as part of his "Resetting Ghana Tour" of the Upper West Region. The President highlighted the importance of this route in linking the regional capitals, stating that it was prioritized due to its significance.

"When we're doing the selection of the Big Push projects, we prioritise roads that link regional capitals. And this is one of the roads that links the Upper East regional capital with the Upper West region. So it's a very important road indeed," he emphasized. Though acknowledging the poor condition of the road for decades, Mahama expressed confidence in the project's progress.

He also mentioned that the government has identified other roads for development but will execute them in phases due to budget constraints, starting with major trunk roads before moving on to feeder roads. "I believe that today we can see that in just some months, that is, before the end of 2027, we will have a very comfortable ride between the two regional capitals," Mahama asserted.
