MA63: Elemen citra Sabah dalam kurikulum sekolah mulai tahun depan

Kota Kinabalu: The visual elements of Sabah will be introduced in the new school curriculum for Year 1 and Form 1 students starting in the upcoming academic year, according to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. The decision is part of the agreement reached through the Malaysia Plan of Action 1963 (MTPMA63) deliberations on education.

Fadhlina stated that Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister James Ratib has wholeheartedly supported this initiative. The focus will be on how to continue supporting education in Sabah based on the core principles and terms of the MA63 agreement. The visual elements for Sabah will commence implementation in the new primary and Form 1 curriculum from next year, she told reporters after the completion of the Sabah Science High School and Buit Hill National School project.

Fadhlina emphasized that promoting brotherhood and inter-school relations among Sabah, Sarawak, and the Peninsula is crucial for building Malaysia's strength. This endeavor is essential for enabling the younger generation to appreciate, value, and respect Sabah's cultural wealth while ensuring the elements are shared through the school curriculum.

Meanwhile, Fadhlina confirmed that the appointment of new teachers and principals for the state is in the final stages of completion. Regarding the issue of weak schools in Sabah, she said progress in project implementation has been good, with some projects already completed, while the rest are still in the construction and preparation phases.

Fadhlina added that continuous monitoring will be carried out in coordination with relevant parties, including the Sabah Works Department (JKR), to ensure the smooth progress of the initiative for underdeveloped schools in the state. Earlier, Fadhlina mentioned that 245 underdeveloped schools in Sabah have been completely rebuilt, while 63 are under construction, with the remaining divided among various stages of implementation, accounting for 416 underdeveloped schools in Sabah in total, she said.
