MA63: Elemen citra Sabah dalam kurikulum sekolah mulai tahun depan

Kota Kinabalu - The elements of Sabah to be incorporated into the new school curriculum for Year 1 and Year 2 students will commence from the upcoming academic year, according to Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. This is one of the agreements reached through the Malaysia Plan of Action Implementation 1963 (MTPMA63) Council on Education.

Fadhlina stated that Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister James Ratib is providing full support to make this vision a reality. The discussion centered on how to further support education in Sabah based on the core principles of the MA63 agreement. The implementation of Sabah-specific elements in the new school curriculum is crucial for fostering camaraderie and inter-relationship ties among Sabah, Sarawak, and Peninsular Malaysia as the foundation of Malaysia's strength.

This endeavor is essential for enabling the younger generation to appreciate, value, and respect the cultural richness of Sabah, while ensuring that these elements can be shared through the school curriculum. Meanwhile, Fadhlina announced that the appointment of new teachers and principals in the state is now in the final stages.

Regarding the issue of underperforming schools in Sabah, she noted that the progress of the relevant projects is going well, with some already completed or under construction, and the rest are in the planning and preparatory stages. Fadhlina mentioned that continuous and close monitoring will be carried out in collaboration with relevant parties, including the Sabah Welfare Department (JKR), to ensure the smooth progress of the projects boosting underperforming schools in the state.

Earlier, Fadhlina mentioned that 245 underperforming schools in Sabah have been fully rebuilt, while 63 more are under construction, and the remaining will be carried out in various stages, making up part of the 416 underperforming schools in Sabah identified for complete replacement.
