Lonjakan undi Cina, India bukti kejayaan MCA, MIC, kata Asyraf

Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, the Deputy President of Umno, stated that the leadership of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA) and the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) proves the resurgence of support from Chinese and Indian voters for the Barisan Nasional (BN). The recent turn of events in the PRN elections for Johor and Negeri Sembilan, which saw increased support from Chinese and Indian voters for BN, indicates the success of MCA and MIC leadership, Asyraf emphasized.

Asyraf lauded the presidents of MCA, Wee Ka Siong, and MIC, S Vigneswaran, for this renewed support. In 2022, Chinese voter support for BN in Johor was a mere 9.5%, but this increased to 20% in the upcoming PRN 2026. Similarly, in Negeri Sembilan, the trend was the same, rising from 8.7% in 2020 to 14% in 2023. At the Umno Annual Conference (PAU) 2026, Asyraf mentioned that Indian voter support for BN also surged in Johor, reaching 54.8% in the latest PRN, compared to just 18.9% in 2022. In Negeri Sembilan, Indian support for BN rose from 17.6% in 2022 to 49.6% in the previous PRN.

During the July 11 PRN in Johor, BN secured 48 out of the 56 parliamentary seats, while the combined parties won 18 out of the 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan PRN held on August 1.
