LaDMA takes over stalled school project

The La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has assumed control of a stalled school construction project aimed at building a six-unit classroom block at the Association Community Model Basic School. The project, which was initiated in 2021, is expected to be completed by December of the current year. The Assembly is financing the initiative through its Internally Generated Fund (IGF) and receiving support from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF).

LaDMA's Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, announced the handover of the site to a contractor named Mehuechi, who is tasked with resuming work on the project. Mr. Anyetei explained that the Assembly had previously directed the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to complete the project after laying the foundation, but disagreed with this approach, considering it inappropriate for the PTA to bear the responsibility of finishing the work. He directed the Assembly to take over the project's completion instead.

The contractor has been given six months to complete the project, but has assured the Assembly that the work could be finished within four months. Mr. Anyetei expressed the Assembly's eagerness to complete the project and hand it over to the school, with the aim of improving the learning environment and reducing classroom congestion.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Ms. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, emphasized that the project is part of the Assembly's efforts to complete legacy projects and enhance infrastructure in public basic schools within the municipality. Mrs. Habiba Kotumah, the Municipal Education Director, noted that inadequate classroom space has limited the school's ability to admit more pupils, and completion of the project would provide additional space, reduce congestion, and enable more children to access basic education.
