IB flags China, Russia-linked protests; security tightened across Delhi ahead of BRICS Summit: Report

Authorities are on high alert due to intelligence reports indicating possible attempts to interfere with VIP movements, breach security measures, and incite disturbances. These concerns include graffiti, drone activity, and attempts to infiltrate VIP routes.

The threat assessment is based on country-specific inputs, with agencies concerned about potential protests or disruptions stemming from sensitive issues between participating nations, notably China and Russia. The Delhi Police and security agencies have ramped up surveillance and intelligence gathering around key areas, focusing on VIP routes and major venues.

Security measures are also being heightened to monitor social media for protest mobilizations, provocative content, and plans for disruptive activities related to the summit. Attendees are advised to stay informed about potential train schedule changes and diversions at New Delhi Railway Station. India's theme for the summit, "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," emphasizes development, sustainability, and reinforcing BRICS as a constructive forum, while addressing concerns about potential disruptions and security threats.
