In Bengaluru, CJP flags teacher shortage, falling roof in government schools

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) visited government schools in Bengaluru, raising concerns over teacher shortages, poor infrastructure, and unsanitary conditions. During its "School Thik Karo" campaign, CJP co-convenor Ashutosh Ranka examined four schools and found that the Government Urdu School in Varthur had only three teachers, despite 150 students in two classrooms.

Moreover, 70% of its classrooms were closed due to a roof that had a loose ceiling. Students even recounted that a part of the roof had fallen onto them. Ranka questioned the government's negligence in ensuring the safety of children. Similar issues were reported in other schools like Kaikondrahalli, Yeshwantpura, and J P Nagar, where over 50% of teachers were on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty for the past three months.

The CJP team also expressed concerns about the cleanliness and hygiene conditions at the schools, urging the local civic agency to focus on these issues. Ranka claimed that CJP had audited over 200 schools in Karnataka in the past month and discussed the gaps with Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa. The minister proposed the KPS initiative, aiming to upgrade 2000 government schools into model schools.
