How to buy fuel via app, serve yourself at NNPC stations

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) is rolling out self-service fuel pumps at NNPC Retail stations across the country within the next six months. These smart stations will allow motorists to dispense petrol themselves using a mobile application. NNPC Retail has released a guide on its X handle to show motorists how to use the self-service system.

The process involves downloading the NRL Fuel App, selecting the fuel type, choosing a self-service station, entering the desired fuel amount, and paying through the app. Upon successful payment, the app generates a digital receipt with an Order ID, Self-Service Code, and QR Code. At the pump, customers enter the 8-digit self-service code and dispense the exact amount of fuel purchased.

NNPC's executive vice president for downstream, Mumuni Dagazau, stated that the new self-service model is part of the company's plan to transform conventional filling stations into comprehensive energy and mobility hubs. The new smart stations will offer additional services such as electric vehicle charging, liquefied petroleum gas, compressed natural gas, and other mobility services.
