GPM Malaysia heads to Nepal to assess urgent needs of survivors after deadly floods

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — In response to the devastating floods that struck Nepal, GPM Malaysia has dispatched a humanitarian team of three workers to the affected region. CEO Ahmad Fahmi Mohd Samsudin announced that the team will remain in Nepal until Sept 14, collaborating with the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. The primary objective of this mission is to evaluate the situation on the ground and determine the needs of the survivors to facilitate prompt and effective post-disaster assistance.

The catastrophic floods, which occurred on August 26, caused significant damage, particularly along the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers. As of Sept 9, Nepalese authorities had reported 1,367 bodies recovered, with over 5,000 people still unaccounted for. GPM Malaysia has urged Malaysians to extend their support and solidarity to help alleviate the burden faced by the affected communities.
