French player leaves Club América over racist abuse of his children

French winger Allan Saint-Maximin has announced his departure from Club América, citing racist abuse faced by his children while attending school in Mexico. The 29-year-old, now playing for Charlotte FC in the United States, expressed his commitment to speaking out against discrimination, stating that "hatred and discrimination have no place in our society."

While acknowledging that racism can occur anywhere, Saint-Maximin emphasized that his decision was made to protect his family's wellbeing. The incident at Club América deeply affected him, particularly because it involved his children. Club América publicly supported Saint-Maximin and his family, and his teammates showed solidarity by displaying a "No to racism" banner during a match.

Despite his emotional decision, Saint-Maximin clarified that he had no personal grievances against the club or the Mexican people, as he had previously praised Club América as one of the best places he had ever been with his family.
