Economy minister: Sabah receives RM582m, highest allocation for small-scale projects nationwide since 2023

Kota Kinabalu, Sept 11 — The Malaysian Economy Minister, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, announced that the state of Sabah is set to receive the highest allocation of RM582.29 million for small-scale projects and People's Facility Initiatives (IKR) in the country since 2023. Out of the total RM1.52 billion, Sabah will benefit from RM175.24 million for 985 IKR projects and RM407.05 million for 1,316 small-scale projects.

For the year 2023 alone, Sabah received RM113.3 million to fund 481 IKR and small-scale projects, forming a part of the nationwide allocation of RM323.8 million. These projects undergo a rigorous evaluation process to ensure their feasibility and suitability before receiving funding. In an effort to prioritize safety and infrastructure development, the Ministry of Economy is considering making the construction of small bridges a key focus area under the IKR programme in Sabah next year.
