This vintage muscle car, now a rare sight on Winnipeg streets, evoked nostalgia among spectators who were seeing a specimen for the first time. The annual cruise, billed as $205.00 + GST for one year, automatically renews at $233.00 + GST every 52 weeks, attracting new and returning subscribers.

Bob Sudoma, a longtime car enthusiast, drove the red Coronet, participating in the centuries-old tradition of showcasing his prized possession. The Sunday night cruise brings together proud car owners from the Winnipeg car scene, who meet to revel in their shared passion for automobiles. Onlookers also gather along the route to admire the well-maintained vehicles, which include restored classics, vintage trucks, hot rods, modern sports cars, and even a rare supercar.

The allure of the cruise lies not only in the cars but also in the sense of camaraderie it fosters among enthusiasts. Sudoma, who has been part of Winnipeg's car culture since the late 1970s, enjoys the nostalgic feeling of cruising around, surrounded by beautifully maintained automobiles that transport him back in time.

As the Free Press interviewed attendees along Portage Avenue, conversations were often drowned out by revving engines, a constant reminder of the less elegant side of the event. Police presence was necessary to manage the traffic and curb any anti-social behavior that sometimes accompanies the cruise.

Sudoma acknowledged that a small number of "bad apples" engage in noisy, unsafe practices, but emphasized that they represent only a fraction of the community. The Sunday night cruise, with its long history, continues to attract car enthusiasts who appreciate the social aspect of the event, with the majority focusing on camaraderie, car shows, and meeting fellow aficionados.
