Colleagues left me to die, but God saved me — Halima Abubakar

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar shared her harrowing experience of feeling abandoned by colleagues when she was sick. According to Abubakar, some of her peers failed to check on her while she was unwell, leaving her to believe that they had "left her to die." However, she credits God for saving her life. Abubakar told Saturday Beats, "I didn’t say they abandoned me. We are not friends. You know how it is in an industry. When one person says one thing, every other person assumes that’s the truth."

She acknowledged that people might not fully understand the circumstances surrounding her situation, noting that "so many people didn’t expect me to survive." Despite her anger initially, Abubakar remains grateful for the support she received from various individuals, including musicians like Patoranking, her appreciation for donors such as Mercy Eke, and her gratitude towards junior colleagues like Destiny Etiko, Lizzy Gold, Monica Friday, Queeneth Agbor, and Regina Daniels, who provided free medical treatment.

Abubakar expressed her gratitude, saying, "It’s something I cannot say thank you enough for." She concluded by emphasizing her changed perspective, stating, "I’m a changed person. I’m changed, even the way I talk."
