Claude is no longer available for minors

Anthropic's consumer product, Claude, is exclusively available to individuals aged 18 and above. To create an account, users must confirm they meet this age requirement. If the system detects potential users under 18, they will be prompted to verify their age before gaining access to the service.

To ensure the safety of its users, Anthropic employs sophisticated age verification systems to identify if anyone under 18 is using Claude. Upon suspicion, the platform will disable accounts exhibiting signs of minor engagement.

Users can easily verify their age by utilizing Yoti, a third-party age verification platform. A verification request will be sent to the account holder via email, including a link to complete the process. Once validated, the account will be restored. Yoti provides multiple methods for users to confirm their age, ensuring convenience and flexibility.

Option one involves facial age estimation, where users take a selfie; Yoti's technology then estimates the individual's age without the need for an ID document. Option two involves ID verification, in which users can take a photo of their passport, driving license, or national ID card and upload it from their device. A list of supported documents varies by country, offering users multiple choices.

For those already using the Yoti app, they may opt for option three, sharing a verified "over 18" attribute directly from the app. Lastly, users can choose to utilize Yoti's Digital ID app, which allows them to verify their age and access the service without having to share their personal information with Anthropic.
