Banca Mediolanum al ricambio generazionale: 1.500 giovani consulenti nei prossimi tre anni
Dopo aver seguito l’executive master di 6 mesi, vengono affiancati a un senior: il tasso di retention sfiora il 90%
Banca Mediolanum aims to bring on board 1,500 young consultants over the next three years in response to the generational change and the closure of physical banking branches. Antonio Gusmini, the Director of Human Resources at Banca Mediolanum, explained that the bank's model is to reach customers where they are, following the footsteps established by its founder, Ennio Doris.
Currently, 258 young consultants are enrolled in the executive master courses at the bank's academy, and by the end of 2026, 350 young consultants will be part of the program, bringing the total to over 1,000 bankers under 30. The bank plans to hire nearly 500 young consultants per year for the next three years.
The generational renewal plan aims to strengthen the network of bankers and arises from the closure of thousands of physical branches, opening new spaces in the territories where customers need strong references. Financial consultants are the link bridging customers and managing their assets. About 6,000 bankers work for Banca Mediolanum, with an average age of over 55 years. The bank has emphasized the importance of having long-term relationships with clients, especially as the majority of bankers are over 60 years old.
The Mediolanum Next project was launched to bring in over 783 young consultants under 30, nurtured through a six-month executive master at the Mediolanum Corporate University and working alongside senior bankers. The master program provides a 1,300-euro monthly scholarship, followed by being paired with a senior banker under an agency contract.
The remuneration is performance-based, with the first year guaranteeing a minimum income of 25,000 euros, and subsequent years increasing in proportion to performance. By the fifth year, the income range for top-performing junior bankers reaches between 60,000 and 80,000 euros annually. Gusmini highlighted that the bank's focus on technology and digitalization has created a meritocratic career path, where the third-year decision for junior bankers is whether to continue as consultant bankers or become family bankers themselves.
