Anthropic flags five Claude AI uses linked to biological weapons research

Anthropic, the creator of Claude AI, has identified five instances where its artificial intelligence models were utilized in research that could potentially support biological weapons development. These cases were documented in the company's recent threat intelligence report. The research focused on various viruses, including chikungunya, highly pathogenic avian influenza, orthopoxviruses, venom peptides, and toxins.

Anthropic has taken measures to ban the accounts involved and incorporated the findings into its safety protocols. However, the company emphasized that it does not accuse the researchers of intending harm and has chosen not to disclose their identities or institutions.
